Chuckanut Falls

The only reason this tiny waterfall is included on the website is because there is an official trail leading to it. The falls occur where a tiny stream slides about 30' down the Chuckanut sandstone. In addition to be tiny, there is a rusty barrel in the creek at the base of the falls and a hose runs from the top of the falls to a nearby house. There is a nice fenced viewpoint complete with a bench to rest for a few minutes before turning around. The only reason to visit this waterfall is if you're looking for an easy, low elevation hike in the Bellingham area, but there are much better destinations than this.

A smaller waterfall is passed about 1/2 a mile from the car that adds a little bit to the hike.

DIRECTIONS - Take I-5 to Bellingham and take the Fairhaven Exit. In a little over a mile, stay to the left towards Chuckanut Drive. Head south for a few miles and park at the North Chuckanut Trailhead. Start walking along the trail. Go left at the first two forks and then stay right at all other forks. In just under a mile, you will see a sign pointing to Chuckanut Falls to the left. Follow this sign and the next one until you end at the falls. Total distance is about 1 1/4 miles.
