Lookout Mountain near Bellingham is essentially one big chunk of sandstone. There are many small streams that run down the eastern side of the mountain into Lake Whatcom and they all have waterfalls on them. The creek on which the Wildwood Cascades occur is the second largest of these creeks. The falls begin with a drop of around 35' tall followed by several smaller sliding drops as the creek approaches the road. The last time I was in this area, the creek had been posted "No Trespassing". If the sign is still there, please don't get yourself in trouble by attempting to visit up close.
