DIRECTIONS - Take HWY 20 east to the Cascade River Road. Take the road for about 5.75 miles. Hobbit Falls is located a short distance upstream on the creek that the road crosses over at this point. To view the lower part, just scramble up the creek bed. You might get your feet wet but it's nothing too awful. To see the upper part requires a more difficult climb through the woods. Get on top of the ridge on the west side of the creek and stay there until you get above the bottom tier of the falls.

Hobbit Falls occurs on a small, unnamed creek just upstream from Cascade River Road. The upper section of the falls can be seen through the trees from the road. The stream is small and probably runs dry late in the summer so keep that in mind. The waterfall begins with 50' tall twin plunges. From there the creek continues to horsetail and cascade for another 100' or so before taking a turn and dropping about 60' over the bottom section of the falls, seen on the left. The total height is a little over 200'. The view of the upper section from up close is a little deceiving because there is a lot of foreshortening.

You'll have to cut me a little slack on the name of this one. Located nearby is Goblin Falls, named by Bryan Swan because it drops off of Big Devil Peak. In keeping with that theme, I have proposed the rather lackluster name of Hobbit Falls for this one. I'm certainly open to suggestions for a better name though.
